The Mazda3 sedan, Mazda3 hatchback, and Mazda CX-30 2023 crossover get the most updates. Both vehicles receive powertrain upgrades. But, the Mazda3 gets a reordering of trim levels.
The CX-50 gets a new Meridian Edition that takes the trim to the next level. The CX-9 also gains modest updates as it reaches its last year, and Mazda has said that a CX-9 successor will arrive in 2024.

2023 Mazda Updates To Each New Model
2023 Mazda Mazda3 Updates
?For 2023, the Mazda3 sedan and hatchback will receive modest updates. The 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G engine's output rises by five horsepower to 191 hp and 186 of torque. This engine has new cylinder-deactivation technology intended to be more effective. The technology is handy in certain circumstances, resulting in better fuel efficiency. Based on the available drivelines, Mazda rearranged the model levels for the Mazda3. The Mazda3 2.5 S Preferred is only available in front-wheel drive (FWD). But the Mazda3 2.5 S Carbon Edition hatchback and sedans are also available in all-wheel-drive (AWD). AWD comes standard on the Mazda3 2.5 S Premium hatchback and sedans. A Skyactiv-MT 6-speed manual gearbox is optional for the FWD 2.5 S Premium hatchbacks. Not to mention, the entry-level Mazda3 2.5 Turbo is the only hatchback in this year's lineup. However, Mazda offers a hatchback or sedan with the Premium Plus spec for the Turbo.
2023 Mazda CX-30 Updates
With a few clever tweaks, the CX-30 crossover comes with some updates. The 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G engine gains five horsepower, increasing to 191 horsepower and 186 torque. The EPA fuel economy also rises by two mpg on the highway and one mpg in the city. Mazda no longer produces the basic Turbo model.
The manual-leveling LED headlights are no longer available on certain trims. Mazda modifies the 2023 CX-30 rear seat belts and adds second-row passengers' rear side airbags.
2023 Mazda CX-5 Updates
For 2023, the small crossover Mazda CX-5 will remain in production. Only the exterior paint color changed to Snowflake Pearl Mica, replacing Rhodium White premium paint.
2023 Mazda CX-50 Updates
Compared to the CX-5 crossover, the CX-50 is more outdoor-oriented. It returns with a brand-new trim level dubbed the CX-50 Meridian Edition. We bet that off-road drivers in Pearl River, NY, will love the 2023 Mazda CX-50! It includes exclusive 18-inch black metallic wheels and Falken all-terrain tires.
The Meridian Edition SUV offers the following.
- Brand-new headlamp garnish
- Distinctive matte black hood logo
- Black wheel locking and lug nuts,
- Side rocker panels
You can upgrade your Meridian Edition with the Apex package. If you do, you can include even more:
- Roof-mounted black crossbars
- Roof Platform
- Front and rear splash guards
The Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine produces 227 horsepower and 310 torque. Expect 87-octane fuel or 256 horsepower and 320 pound-feet on premium 93-octane fuel.
2023 Mazda CX-9 Updates
The iconic CX-9 will enter its last model year in 2023. For the 2024 model year, Mazda says a successor will be available. Meanwhile, the 3-row crossover is back, with the Touring trim offering substantial improvements to the 2023 Mazda CX-9. Thus, standard features include:
- Power Moonroof
- Wireless phone charging
- LED fog lights
- Second-row captain's seats
The Touring Plus, Carbon Edition, Grand Touring, and Signature are all remaining trim levels.
2023 Mazda MX-30 Updates
Nothing has changed for the MX-30 EV for 2023. However, we anticipate Mazda will introduce a rotary engine-powered model to increase the SUV's range.
2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata Updates
The legendary 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata is a carryover model for 2023. There are no changes to the design, features, or packaging; the only update is the exterior colors to Zircon Sand Metallic from Polymetal Grey.
